2 Dead as Bomb Explosion Rocks Maiduguri

A bomb explosion has claimed two lives in Maiduguri, Borno State, Daily Post reports.

The Improvised Explosive Device, IED, went off this morning around the Ummulari ward in Maiduguri, the state capital.

A soldier who wished not to be named confirmed the attack to Daily Post. He said two were killed in the explosion suspected to have been carried out by the degraded Boko Haram insurgents.

However, the Army is yet to release an official statement on the attack.

When contacted, the Army Spokesman, Sani Usman, said he has not been briefed, adding that he will get back to our reporter with details.

”I’m currently not aware of such incident, but when I get any information, I will get back to you,” Sani said.

Meanwhile, oldiers in the early hours of Friday shot three women strapped with explosive device on their bodies while attempting to invade Maiduguri, an official said.
